DVGW – Test laboratory energy

Before a product can be used, it must be put through its paces. Gas appliances, fireplaces, fittings and similar systems in particular are subject to strict requirements that ensure a long and safe product life cycle. As an internationally recognized test laboratory, we have extensive expertise in carrying out type examination tests in various areas in accordance with the applicable national and international standards. Using state-of-the-art measurement technology and testing equipment, we carry out type examination tests on typical domestic appliances for our customers.

Our test laboratory can draw on many years of experience, as the two DBI gas appliance and burner testing laboratories in Freiberg and Leipzig applied for and successfully passed accreditation as DVGW test laboratories back in the early 1990s. The many years of activity as an ASMW test center in the GDR contributed to the experience in the relevant testing activities. Thanks to the modernization of the testing equipment and facilities, it is possible in our test laboratory to test not only gas appliances but also equipment parts and appliances for solid and liquid fuels. At the beginning of 2000, testing activities were relocated from Leipzig to Freiberg.

The test laboratory is accredited in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025. It is recognized by DVGW CERT GmbH and other notified bodies. In addition, the DBI Group is involved in numerous national and international committees for the further development of standards in order to reflect and help shape the current state of the art at all times.

Our test seals

H2ready is intended to meet the wishes of numerous manufacturers of gas supply and energy technology products to identify the special properties of their products: their suitability for the use, storage or transportation of hydrogen or hydrogen-natural gas mixtures, despite the lack of standards.

The DBI test mark is a mark for an individual product in the sense of a successful test of a product in accordance with applicable standards and generally applicable guidelines or also in accordance with manufacturer specifications. It consists of three parts: the mark in electronic form, the original test mark certificate and the publication in the DBI test mark register.

Special tests

We not only carry out reliability tests (stress tests), but also tests under extreme conditions (temperature, pressure, etc.) for you over a longer period of time. For example, we are able to simulate temperatures between -35 °C and +60 °C with a relative humidity of up to 100 % using our climate cell.

The inspection of gas application systems, i.e. the evaluation of process sequences and the identification of potential savings, is also an important area of work, whereby functional safety, suitability for use and cost-effectiveness can be determined.

We support you in carrying out field tests, but also in the supervision and control of prototypes.

We also carry out external and internal monitoring of your series production devices.

Salt spray test according to DIN EN ISO 9227

In the field of environmental simulation, the salt spray test method in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9227 provides information on the adequate protection of components against corrosion.

Salt spray tests prove to be very useful when products are used in corrosive environments, such as near the sea or on the high seas. Salt spray testing has also become a standard test in the automotive sector.

In our test laboratory, you have the opportunity to test the corrosion resistance of coated and uncoated components.

Advantages

The salt spray test is suitable as a comparative test method, regardless of whether the quality of a metal material is maintained with or without applied corrosion protection. It is also used for quality control if samples with the same type of coating are tested.

Scope of testing

The test specimens are stored in the salty mist atmosphere for a specially defined test period. During the salt spray test in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9227, the test chamber temperature is a constant 35°C. A sodium chloride solution with a concentration of 5% is sprayed in at a constant air flow rate and a constant pH value between 6.5 and 7.2. After the test, the samples are visually inspected for the formation of deposits.

Technical data of the salt spray chamber
  • Dimensions (all dimensions in mm): L=1080, W=680, H=1000
  • Chamber volume up to 735 liters
  • Temperature range 0 to 55°C
  • Spray medium: neutral 5% saline solution

Testing of building products

  • According to EU Regulation 305/2011
  • Area code 27: Space heating systems
  • Area code 28: Pipes, tanks and accessories not connected to drinking water

Information on the CE marking of construction products can be found in the following link to the CPR. In addition, a video clip on CE marking was published by the European Commission in 04/2014.

Calibrations

To support your quality management, we offer you the performance of factory calibrations and customer-specific tests of measuring devices. Due to the growing demand for calibration options, we regularly expand our calibration equipment. We are currently able to carry out the following factory calibrations:
